Professor Mouhamed Moustapha Fall is the President of the African Institute for Mathematical Sciences (AIMS) in Senegal, a role he has held since 2019. He has been a Professor of Mathematics at AIMS since 2018 and previously served as an Endowed Chair at AIMS Senegal from 2013 to 2021, supported by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation.
An internationally respected mathematician, Prof. Fall is the recipient of the 2022 DST–ICTP–IMU Ramanujan Prize and was an Invited Speaker at the 2018 International Congress of Mathematicians (ICM) in Rio de Janeiro. His work spans research excellence, doctoral training, and scientific leadership across Africa and globally.
He has held several high-level international appointments, including membership on the International Scientific Board of UNESCO’s International Basic Science Program (IBSP), the Scientific Council of the Centre International de Rencontres Mathématiques (CIRM) in Marseille, and the European Mathematical Society Committee for Developing Countries (EMS-CDC). He has also served on the IMU Committee for Developing Countries Grant Selection Committee.
Prof. Fall is a former Simons Associate at the Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP) and remains actively involved in doctoral education at Cheikh Anta Diop University of Dakar.
