Hanifatu Napari Mumuni is a dynamic academic, researcher, and leader whose work sits at the intersection of statistics, technology, and real-world impact. She currently serves as a Lecturer and Head of Department at Tamale Technical University (TATU), where she leads programmes in Statistics and Actuarial Science, while mentoring students to become skilled, ethical, and industry-ready professionals.
Hanifatu holds a PhD in Applied Statistics from the University for Development Studies, with a research focus on software reliability growth modelling, a critical area with applications in safety-sensitive domains such as autonomous systems and healthcare technologies. Her expertise in computational statistics allows her to design models that enhance system dependability, ensuring that emerging technologies are both robust and trustworthy. Her journey has been significantly shaped by her time at AIMS Ghana as a Mastercard Foundation Scholar. There, she developed strong programming and communication skills, gaining proficiency in tools such as Python and LaTeX, which played a transformative role in her PhD experience. Beyond technical growth, AIMS Ghana inspired her deep commitment to giving back, a value she continues to embody through mentorship and community engagement, including organizing hands-on coding sessions for beginners both locally and online. Bridging academia and industry, Hanifatu also serves as Chief of Research at Mary Global Health. In this role, she leads research on innovative health technology solutions, including Patient Access Terminals (PAT), MaryOS, and the MaryAI suite. Her work involves analyzing real-world data, designing field studies, and validating solutions in underserved communities, while fostering partnerships that ensure technologies are evidence-based, ethical and scalable.
